Part II: A question with eternal consequences; Am I “expert” at “knowing” Jesus?

Uncommonly, we observe someone that knows someone or something extremely well. We can’t take our eyes off them. Our eyes become fixed on them as we stare with great admiration, uttering something like, “I wish I could do that”…or, “I would love to be able to do that”. All of us love watching specialists at anything.
The “knowing” process reminds me of a story I read about the famed violinist, Fritz Kreisler. After a concert, a fan rushed up him and gushed: “I’d give my whole life to play as beautifully as you do.” Kreisler replied, “I did.”

Towards the end of Jesus’ 3 years of public ministry on earth, Jesus asked one of His 12 closest followers. Philip, a question that must have felt very strange to him, one that must stopped him dead in his tracks hitting him right between the eyes. A peculiar question in the context that Philip had been living with Jesus almost 24 hours a day, seven days a week, for about three full years.

With "words": We're surrounded with an army of zillions. From the moment we wake, till we close our eyes in restless sleep, they invade our eyes, minds and souls. They scream, 'read me, use me, take me, buy me, drink me, smell me, touch me, use me, sleep with me.

We love our children without reservation, whether good or bad, and in spite of their love being returned. As a “good” parent, we will feel and do imperfectly with our children, what God does perfectly with His kids. We love our children, obedient or rebellious. Ditto God. As good parents we reinforce good behavior with rewards. Ditto God. When our children are rebellious and disobedient, we “justly” punish our rebellious child…because we love them. Ditto God. If a child desires privileges, we give them good things. Ditto God. We never allow them to have anything or do anything that would be HARMFUL to them. Ditto God.

God said, “Let Us make mankind in Our Own Image, in Our Likeness…” (Gen. 1:26).
Our Bible is God’s revelation of Himself, His creation of the earth and mankind, and our future. Countless volumes have been written on the subject of “Theology” (the study of God), but for our discussion on “THE FEAR OF GOD”, we will restrict ourselves to several God-characteristics that may help us better understand WHY we should both FEAR God, as in ‘yirah’ and ‘phobo’, and FEAR God as in reverence/honor, found in ‘kabad’ and ‘timao’ (Part 1):
